Engineering Team Lead (f|m|x)

As Product Exploration department, we help millions of customers to find the right product every day. We provide smart filters for relevant product information and sorting, but we are also responsible for the start and result pages and are therefore a very central area in the idealo universe. With us, you work directly "at the heart" of idealo: with our work, customers can easily find the product they are looking for.

We are looking for an Engineering Team Lead (f|m|x), either full-time or part-time for the team responsible for the main pages presenting and navigating idealo’s product catalogue. As we are a cross-functional team, this includes responsibilities for the respective frontend systems, as well as the backing systems all with their individual challenging needs regarding huge amounts of customer traffic as well as an ever-growing huge product catalogue.

Our team’s core philosophy is hypothesis and data-driven development, automatize as much as possible and enabling and working at eye level with our stakeholders.

About your new role

• You will manage an agile team of 6 developers in dual leadership with the product owner.
• You enable the team to collaborate effectively in a constantly changing environment and contribute to optimizing internal processes.
• You support our engineers both in their professional and personal development as well as growing as a team through coaching, mentoring and management support.
• You shape the strategy of your team's product together with our product owner. You are the sparring partner for the product owner on the level of strategy.
• You foster self-organization of your team by empowering them to take responsibility for streams of business value and technical components.
• While you are fully dedicated to your team, you likewise shape the growth, development, cooperation and structure of our department as part of our leadership team.

Skills & Requirements

• At least 3 years of disciplinary management experience and you can strategically challenge technical concepts.
• Technical knowledge of one of these programming languages Javascript, Java, Kotlin and experience with open source frameworks.
• Foster agile principles with a solid understanding of cloud-based architectures, preferably AWS.
• You prioritize developing resilient, scalable, and maintainable architecture, leveraging your full-stack expertise.
• A sense of responsibility for the operation and monitoring of your applications.
• You communicate clearly, are empathetic and know how to create a motivating environment for your employees and work collaboratively.
• idealo employs a wild mix of English and German-speaking people, so you will need to be comfortable speaking English regularly. Proficiency in German is a plus.

Work in the office and from wherever you like.

idealo allows you to work from wherever you are. As part of our Hybrid Work at idealo, you decide whether and how often you work from our office in Berlin or remotely because you live in another city within Germany or the café down the street makes the best coffee cream.
